Wild By Nature Adventures is committed to excellence not only in the workplace but also in the community. It is our responsibility to provide leadership and give back to the community as much as we possibly can. The purpose of the ‘Survival Game’ is to increase awareness and appreciation of the environment. The object is to role play a specific animal in an ecosystem and ‘SURVIVE’!

Are you hesitant to take your family or friends canoeing due to lack of skills/knowledge and/or non-certification in canoeing skills and safety? If so, then this course is for you!  The purpose of the Canoe Flatwater Program is to provide basic canoe safety, rescues, strokes and learn canoeing equipment standards in order to provide a safe, fun and informative session or trip for your family and friends. After the preliminary safety session, we will paddle along the beautiful Gull Lake shoreline ecosystem and truly enjoy dip, dipping away!  If possible, please bring your own lifejacket.

Kayaking has been around forever, but it is a new and cool activity for many of our Nature lovers. The purpose of the Flatwater Sea Kayaking Program is to provide instruction in basic kayak safety, rescues, strokes and kayak equipment standards. Once the nitty gritty is complete, we will head out for a shoreline paddle and play some Kayak-Water games. Lifejackets will be provided however, if you have one, please bring it with you.

Follow the DeGraff Nature Trails of the wondrous Aspen Parkland Ecosystem to discover animal signs and the uses of our native plants! Have fun playing the ‘Web of Life’, discover an ants home, check out some cool water bugs of Gull Lake…..walk like the animals and sing like the birds!  This fun and interactive program is one you don’t want to miss!!

Join in on an amazing primitive skills experience for the whole family. The JFW Sundog Program Committee is busy organizing this event and will have an information package out soon.    Examples of programs and events may include, but are not limited to: hide drums, dream catchers, flint knapping/arrow construction, aboriginal toys and games, survival methods, stone tools, soap/candle making, soap stone carving, bark carving, game calls, archery, birch bark art, native plant ID and their medicinal uses, Aboriginal perspectives and TI-PI construction. A traditional meal may be provided along with evening entertainment of joining in with native POW-wow dancers. Additional fees for materials, for the course of your choice, may be required.

Test your Survivor skills!

Bring a team of 4 people to participate in the DeGraff’s Eco-Camp Summer Olympics!

Stations will include: Fire lighting, Plant ID, Shelter Construction, Animal ID, Cordage, Knots, and Wilderness First Aid.

Maximum # of Registrants:  6 teams of 4 people each

To register, please fill out and sign the Workshop Registration Form attached. A copy of the Wild By Nature Waiver Form must also be signed for each participant before attending any Wild By Nature Programs; this waiver will then be good for all subsequent programs.

*The cost includes instruction, materials and preparation

*The above special prices are for DeGraff’s Campers and Junior Forest Wardens only.  Any other participants will be charged an additional 50% for Workshops.

*The meeting place for all programs will be at the DeGraff’s Club House. Please be on time, as we will have to move to different locations for several programs.
